Recently, Beijing Tong Ren Tang, a world-renowned name in Traditional Chinese Medicine, celebrated the grand opening of its first-ever Global TCM Cultural Experience Center in Macao. This landmark initiative marks a major step in the company’s global strategy and a new milestone in bringing the wisdom of Chinese medicine to the world. It also highlights Tong Ren Tang’s ongoing commitment to expanding its “Global Health” habitat and deepening TCM’s role in international health and wellness.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Experience Center and gathered distinguished guests and industry leaders. Among the officiating guests from Macao were Ms. Qiu Yu, Director-General of the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Choi Peng Cheong, President of the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Mr. Cheang Seng Ip, Subdirector of the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Mr. Chui Sai Cheong, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of the Macao Chamber of Commerce; and several other prominent figures from political, business, and academic circles of Macao. Beijing’s delegation included representatives from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-Council (CCPIT Beijing), the Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Daxing District People’s Government, and senior executives from China Beijing Tong Ren Tang Group Co., Ltd., including Ms. Guo Liyan, Chief Accountant, and Mr. Yan Han, Assistant General Manager and Chairman of Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd.

Ms. Guo Liyan remarked in her speech: “As a key hub along the Belt and Road Initiative and a vital gateway for the internationalization of TCM in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Macao serves as an ideal platform for cultural and health exchanges. The Macao Beijing Tong Ren Tang TCM Cultural Experience Center not only showcases our global health vision but also symbolizes a new starting point for TCM’s global journey.”

Benefiting from Macao’s status as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure,” the supportive policies under the Master Plan for the Development of the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the high standards guaranteed by the “Made in Macao” quality label, the Center has been created as an innovative, experience-based flagship for Tong Ren Tang. It promotes a transformation from traditional retailing to a multi-dimensional platform integrating “service and culture.”
The Center offers six thematic experiences:
- Traditional herbal diagnosis and therapy
- Premium tonics and supplements
- Health tea and medicinal cuisine
- Wellness and aesthetic management
- TCM cultural learning programs
- Cultural and creative retail
Through immersive interaction, these elements help bring the concept of Chinese wellness into a global lifestyle context. Leveraging the policy advantages of the Hengqin Cooperation Zone, the Center will also explore new pathways for cross-border TCM services and international certification, contributing innovative Tong Ren Tang solutions to drive TCM industry collaboration across the Greater Bay Area.
Founded in 1669, Beijing Tong Ren Tang has a remarkable 356-year history. Since supplying medicines to the imperial court starting in 1723, the company has upheld its heritage of excellence and integrity. Established in 2005, Beijing Tong Ren Tang (Macao) Co., Ltd. now operates five branches across the region, all of which have been recognized as “The Most Certified Stores” by the Macao SAR Government.
In 2025, Tong Ren Tang has made impressive strides in its international expansion. In Cambodia, its flagship product Angong Niuhuang Wan obtained a Traditional Medicine Registration Certificate from the Ministry of Health, ensuring local access to authentic Chinese healthcare. In Vietnam, the company established a representative office and initiated registration for the same product, reinforcing its ASEAN market presence. In New Zealand, Tong Ren Tang Auckland is developing innovative deer-derived health products within the framework of China–New Zealand cooperation. Meanwhile, at this year’s China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the launch of the Chinese Herbal Gum Care Toothpaste (Yin Yang Su) garnered wide attention, accompanied by a new joint research laboratory on oral ecology and health innovation co-established with Peking University Health Science Center.
Looking ahead, Tong Ren Tang will continue expanding its “Global Health” habitat, building a top range product matrix, enhancing a “safe and efficient” supply chain, and advancing an innovation-driven model that combines both products and services. The company remains committed to promoting the wisdom of Oriental wellness across borders, contributing to human health and cultural exchange.
As culture bridges East and West, the Beijing Tong Ren Tang TCM Cultural Experience Center in Macao will serve as a dynamic platform for innovation, collaboration, and cultural dissemination — showcasing the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine to the world and continuing Tong Ren Tang’s enduring commitment to advancing global health.
