On November 16, Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Company Africa Limited held a press conference in SINOSTEEL PLAZA, Sandton, announcing the 347 year-old historical brand officially enters Africa, setting up five branches simultaneously in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban. Chinese medicine practitioners are also invited to the country for free consultations and health seminars.

In the opening ceremony of our first shop in China mall, Johannesburg, various industry leaders from the local market, Africa-stationed government officers, and scholars attended the event including Dr. Dalimin Zuma, President of Africa Union Mr. Wei Huang, Counselor of China Embassy to South Africa, Ms. Yongling Ding, the Vice General Manager of China Beijing Tong Ren Tang (Group) Company Limited and the Chief Executive Officer of Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Company Limited, Mr. Yaoheng Sun, MMC (MemberoftheMayoralCommittee)for Public Safety, Mr. Xu changbin, Chairman of China Mall Group, Dr. S.A.Adam, Deputy Chairperson of Complementary Medicine Council and Mr. Kong, Chairperson of SA Association of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Ms. Ding introduced the rich history of Beijing Tong Ren Tang and the company’s latest overseas development, including the new partnership with Africa’s famous colleges in promoting Chinese medicine. Tong Ren Tang Africa strives to deliver quality Chinese medical products and services to the South Africa community, hoping to share the ancient wisdom and traditional culture between citizens of South Africa and China.

Chinese medicine application has a long history in Africa, with more than 50 years now. South Africa values the development of Chinese medicine in the country and recognized the legal status of Chinese medicine back in year 2000, providing a sound legal protection to the industry. Chinese medicine and acupuncture has developed rapidly in the country since then and was widely received by the government and public. Acupuncture, massage and other Chinese medical solutions has also been recognised by South Africa’s insurers and included into insured medical services.
